Maturing Into a Healthy Woman

Sports and action is no longer a legacy of boys and men. Today’s girls and women are equally flourishing in activities which require more physical effort than others. They have excelled in sports, media, arts and more, with an élan which was perhaps unheard of a century back. But it’s always true that a woman’s body needs just as much fitness and health as that of men. Not only does it keep a woman emotionally balanced, it also helps a girl step healthily into womanhood.

An interesting study has revealed that about an eighty percent of women working as leaders in Fortune 500 companies have been physically active and involved in organized sports during their growing years. Therefore, there’s a close connection between health and success. Sports and other exercises early in life reduce the chance of severe diseases during the later part. Young girls are less prone to take to drugs while involved in sports, they are also less likely to get accidental pregnancy and moreover, they mature into smarter women with higher-than-average IQ. Exercising need not necessarily be rigorous, always. You can start off with mild and light exercises and then switch to tougher ones as your body adapts to the change. And the moment you spot noticeable difference in your mood and other bodily responses to external stimuli, you’ll be more enthusiastic to continue exercising. Some women are less athletic; they may go for simple morning/evening walks with their best buddies or go swimming with their families or even in dance classes, if that thrills them. Now if you’re a tomboy, you’d probably be keen on the more boyish sports like basketball, soccer, football, etc. And if you’re just the opposite, that is overtly feminine, you may exercise in forms of cheerleading and dancing. But don’t force yourself or any young girl into sports that they do not enjoy. It’s not the kind of sports and exercise that brings the change; it’s doing it with all your heart, whatever you do.Today’s young generation, especially girls teenagers, reportedly suffer from acute depression, anhedonia and low self-esteem. Sports and exercise are tested to yield positive results in this regard too. More physical involvement in life takes the mind off undesirable psychological maladies and ensures better well-being.

On reaching puberty, that is the first major hormonal changes in the body, a boy and a girl both pass through certain physiological and psychological changes. Sometimes, young girls find it hard to cope with these changes and slips into complex depressions. Girls hormones stimulate the ovaries and produces estrogen. This estrogen gradually helps a girl to mature into womanhood. The body develops faster and she suddenly finds the woman in herself. It is at this stage that exercising is all the more essential.
