Help to Keep Your Relationship Together
Remember on your wedding day when you were exchanging vows with the love of your life? Things couldn’t have gotten any better right? It was a perfect day, everything was going exactly the way you wanted, but then something happened. Slowly, over time and with life’s ups and downs, the spark went dim. That excitement and connection you felt with your spouse was gone and you are now left feeling alone and confused within your marriage. You may have contemplated divorce or perhaps your spouse has brought up the idea. If you’re not ready to walk away from everything the two of you have built, you need some marriage saving ideas that work.
The first thing you will want to consider is your partner. Are you giving them your all? Chances are you two aren’t as crazy about each other as you were before you got married. But don’t worry. You are going to be able to change that and it all starts with you. You need to ask yourself what you can do that will help. Is there something you can think of that will help them realize you still love them? It doesn’t have to be some extraordinary display of affection. Instead keep it simple, sometimes even the simplest actions help. Maybe the next time you are in public together surprise your spouse with a kiss. Even if things aren’t going as best as they use to grab a hold of them and kiss them. Public displays of affection are something most people will never admit they enjoy. But something about the excitement of showing complete strangers that the love you have is special. If you aren’t quite that brazen, just reach for your spouse’s hand at the movies or the grocery store. It’s a small gesture but there’s tremendous meaning behind it.
Another thing you might want to consider is the amount of time you devote to others. If you’re busy at work, with the kids or simply just don’t have the energy to communicate then you need to try. You need to make it your job to let them know you really care. When you come home from work or when they do ask them how their day was. You need to listen to them, don’t make it about yourself, even if your day was stressful listen to them first. You have all the time in the world to let them know how your day was, but you really only have those first few minutes when they get home to show you care about their day. Being focused solely and completely on your spouse when you first reconnect at the end of the day is one of the best marriage saving ideas.
Never overlook the importance of simply telling your partner how much you love and adore them. We sometimes get so caught up in the small things that we overlook the bigger picture. Your spouse needs and wants to hear what you’re feeling and they take comfort in knowing you still care as much as you used to. Tell them as often as you can how you feel. That can go a very long way towards repairing a failing marriage and getting things back to a loving, committed and mutually satisfying place.
