The first phase concerns the refurbishment of the new wing, which will house the Research, Documentation and Residence Centre and the 20th Century Panorama. The latter will include exhibits relating to the historical, political and artistic affairs of the period based on the life of Kyveli and her family. The entire construction project is funded through the Public Investment Programme for 2003 and will be completed by October 2005.
The second phase concerns the technical and technological equipment that is required in order to fulfil the elevated needs for the organisation of world-class exhibitions, conferences, workshops, educative programmes and cultural events in general. This phase will be completed gradually, in line with the Institute’s programme of activities. 2. Floating Theatre The "Floating Theatre" aims to promote artistic creation through theatre productions that are presented in various disused shipyards around the Mediterranean. It was created by the Kyveli Institute as a branch of the Pirandello National Centre for Theatre Studies. A musical production, which will include first-ever presentations in Greek of certain single-act plays by Pirandello and directed by Francesca Bartellini is already underway and will debut in 2005. 3. The Kyveli Archive The Archive of the Kyveli Institute is an integral part of the entire effort and its improvement and promotion a major objective. For this reason, a number of research programmes are underway and will culminate with the creation of a database and with the publishing of the Institute’s monographs. The first such monograph to be published will focus on Kyveli herself. In addition, the Institute is constantly enriching its archive with new material, aiming at the complete mapping of the artistic endeavours of Kyveli’s family.
