Activities at the Kyveli Mansion
Europe has today successfully completed many of the initial steps required in its quest for unity and now can, and ought to, be supported by its wealthy background which is none other than its cultural identity.
The Kyveli Mansion, through the use of cutting edge technologies, aims to bear witness to the significant cultural and artistic developments that have taken place during the 20th century.
In the tense environment of two world wars -which today could arguably be viewed as civil wars-, schisms, and more wars, Kyveli, a great Greek actress, flanked by worthy friends and foes managed to overcome the barriers posed by language and the ephemeral nature of theatre and burst into the world stage thanks to her unrivalled artistic merit and intelligence.
That important era of European theatre still serves today as a prime example of cultural diplomacy. It is perhaps the only form of diplomacy, which, through our differences and peculiarities, can bring our continent's singular cultural identity to the fore.

Premises
The Kyveli Institute is located at the Kyveli Mansion in Hermoupolis, Syros. It is an early twentieth century bourgeois villa, which can accommodate researchers and personalities of the cultural and academic worlds in an authentic environment. The idea is to create a live-in museum where objects, heirlooms and letters can co-exist and be readily available to modern day researchers. An annex is also being prepared in order to house the Panorama of the 20th Century and the Centre for Research, Documentation and Residence. Construction is due for completion in 2005 and will include:
The main exhibition area and salespoint which will be convertible into a small conference centre
An open-air area for various events
A specially designed area for studying and research
